How to get the BEST BURN from your candle.
You have a Candle Essence product, a premium quality candle which smells beautiful, looks fabulous and will burn for a very long time.
Follow these instructions to get the best performance from your candle, to the very last drop of wax:
- Most importantly, the first time you burn the candle, allow it to burn until the melted wax (the ‘melt pool’) extends out to the walls of its container. This usually takes about 1 hour per inch diameter of container and sets the 'memory' of the candle and prevents “tunnelling”.
- Trim the wick to 1/4" before lighting to prevent large flame and the possibility of smoking.
- Always ensure the wick is centred (it can drift off centre)
- Keep candle out of drafts and on a level, heat resistant surface to prevent uneven burning.
- Do not display coloured candles in direct sunlight. The colour will begin to fade.
Troubleshooting tips…
A low, small flame is usually caused because the wick is ‘drowning’, and is probably too short. Extinguish the candle, pour out some of the melted wax to expose the wick and relight.
A large flame can cause 'smoking' because the wick is too long. Extinguish the candle, trim the wick to 1/4" and relight.
If 'tunnelling' occurs (when the candle burns straight down the middle), it’s usually because the candle didn’t burn long enough on the first burn for the melt pool to reach the walls of the container. Burn it for a minimum of 5 hours. If this doesn’t correct it, contact us for further instructions.
